DESCRIPTION
Experience a one-of-a-kind musical journey where the stage comes to life—one player at a time. Held at Harkness Chapel, Case Western Reserve University, this dynamic concert explores the evolving nature of ensemble performance. Starting with John Corigliano’s STOMP for solo, the program builds with Schubert’s Fantasy for Violin and Piano, York Bowen’s Fantasie Quartet for Four Violas, and Shostakovich’s Two Pieces for String Octet. The evening culminates with Klengel’s Hymnus for 12 Cellos and Piazzolla’s 12 Cello Set, showcasing the full ensemble in a vibrant, rhythmically charged finale. A pre-concert talk by dance lecturer, dancer and choreographer Sam McIntosh explores street dance as a cultural language, where every movement carries generations of dialogue, resistance, and creative expression.
