Application Guideline

Audition Regulations

• All applications are processed through Acceptd. There are no live auditions for ENCORE Chamber Music Institute.

• Application decisions are based on a completed application and the quality of performance displayed in the submitted video recordings. All decisions are final. 

• All applicants must follow the audition guidelines listed below.

• An incomplete application or unpaid application fee will stop the application process.

Applying on Acceptd is simple!

1. Create a free account on Acceptd or log in if you have an account.
2. Select ENCORE Chamber Music Institute from the dropdown menu (top left) under “Program Group”.
3. Choose whether you are applying as an individual or as an ensemble.
4. Complete the online application form with required documents and audition video recordings.
5. Pay the Application Fee.
6. Click “SUBMIT” (Once you submit your application, you will be unable to modify the application.)

Audition Repertoire

FELLOWSHIP

🎻 Solo Fellows (Violin/Viola/Cello)
1. First movement of a standard concerto
2. Two contrasting movements of Bach
3. One etude or virtuoso work

🎻 String Quartet Fellows
Two movements, each from string quartets of different musical periods: Classical, Romantic, or 20th-21st century.

SOLO Young Artists

🎻 SOLO VIOLIN
1. One movement of Bach Solo Sonata/Partita or one Etude
2. One movement of a standard concerto or a virtuoso work

🎻 SOLO VIOLA
1. One movement of unaccompanied Bach or one Etude
2. One movement of a standard concerto or sonata

🎻 SOLO CELLO
1. One movement from a Bach Cello Suite or one Etude
2. One movement of a standard concerto, sonata or a virtuoso work

Be Ready to Submit:

• Proof of age

• A detailed CV

• Video clips of required audition repertoire (repertoire listed in the section below)

• Artist statement (one paragraph)

• One reference (contact info) for a recommendation letter

• Non-refundable Application Fee:

  • Individual Applicantion $110 USD

  • Group Application $160 USD

• Supplementary Materials for Fellowship/Scholarship/Financial Aid **Please note scholarships/financial aid are only available for Solo Young Artists

  • Fellowship Applicants

    • Indicate consideration on your application

    • Extra Audition Repertoire (please see list below)

    • A Teaching Statement that narrates any previous teaching experience, background, and/or interest in teaching

  • The International Violin Competition of Indianapolis Scholarship for Black and or Latinx Violinist (Full Scholarship)

    • Indicate consideration for IVCI Scholarship on your application

  • Resident Assistant Scholarship ($2,000 Scholarship)

    • Indicate consideration for Resident Assistant Scholarship on your application.

    • A statement listing any previous RA or counselor experience

    • Your household’s most recent tax return (Form 1040). **Please black out any bank account numbers or Social Security numbers on your tax return.

  • Merit Scholarship (Partial to Full Scholarship)

    • Indicate consideration for Merit Scholarship on your application.

  • Need-Based Financial Aid (Partial to Full Scholarship)

    • Indicate consideration for Need-Based Financial Aid on your application.

    • Your household’s most recent tax return (Form 1040). **Please black out any bank account numbers or Social Security numbers on your tax return.

  • Chris Haff-Paluck Memorial Community Scholarship (Partial Scholarship, only for Northeast Ohio residents)

    • Indicate consideration for the CHPM Community Scholarship on your application.

  • Work-Study Scholarship (Partial Scholarship)

    • Indicate consideration for the Work-Study Scholarship on your application.
