Chien-Lin Lu

Chien-Lin Lu was born in Taipei, Taiwan and began his piano studies at the age of 7. He later went to study at Interlochen Arts Academy, Oberlin Conservatory, San Francisco Conservatory, and University of Texas at Austin. His teachers include Yoshikazu Nagai, Angela Cheng, Philip Highfill, Anne Epperson, and Colette Valentine. Winner of Corpus Christi International Music Competition and Austin Critics Table Best Chamber Music Performance of the Year Award, Chien-Lin has collaborated with artists such as Josef Spacek, Gerardo Rebeiro, Kikuei Ikeda, Patricia McCarty, and Julia Lichten. In fall of 2021, he and Chinese-American mezzo-soprano Sun-Ly Pierce premiered Jennifer Higdon’s song cycle, Wise Moon.

Chien-Lin has been a Collaborative Piano and Vocal Piano Fellow at Music Academy of the West. He has served on staff at the Meadowmount School of Music and Vivace Music Festival in Wilmington, NC. He was a Postdoctoral Resident Scholar and Visiting Assistant Professor of Music (Chamber and Collaborative Music) at Indiana University Bloomington Jacobs School of Music
